Bright Sunshiny Day!

Posted on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 at 4:27 am

After several days of torrential rain and gloomy skies* (and a weekend of being sick at home) the boys and I took advantage of the absolutely gorgeous weather and headed to our local arboretum. We haven’t been there since June of last year and when I looked outside this morning I knew we’d end up there! The picture below is from our June 2007 trip – compare it to the one a few shots down…

The boys were in full adventure mode. We had fun feeding the ducks, hiking through the ‘jungle’, and eating our lunch by the pond. Moments like these are magical. I think we have them every day, they’re just harder to notice when we’re in our day-to-day routine.

Looking for turtles…

Look at me Mom!

Yes, it’s a mushroom and no you can’t eat it.

Does life get any sweeter?

Enjoying some lunch.

Will wanted his own ‘bench’.

Fishing!
(The algae is the ‘fish’ Will caught)

Can I take it home please?

Will taking a business call.
(telling Eric all about our day)

The waterfalls.

The REAL reason I take my kids on adventures…
this is what happens on the way home!

*I do realize that all of you in snowy, blizzardy areas are rolling your eyes right now.*

That weather does look gorgeous. And to think I thought today was a pretty day here in Utah just because the sun is shining down on the nasty gray snow! I love that you were able to recreate the photo you took last time you went–amazing to see how much your boys have changed in a few months.

HECK YES the arboretum!!! I love that place. I’m actually surprised you didn’t encounter more crazies there — once a lady told my mom that letting her kids run around the place was shameful or something like that. While we Miller children aren’t exactly known for our demureness, I doubt we were being that crazy. I wasn’t there, but I think my mom just took an ‘oh, please, lady’ attitude. Haha!

I love that place! Ah, the memories.

It looks like such a fun place to go for an adventure and afternoon out! The boys are such cuties! I’m waiting for your email miss poop head! (I probably don’t know you well enough to call you that, but we’re kinda family so…)

oh. there it is. i remember afew years when there would be peacocks in our neighborhood. seriously walking down the streets in front of our home. we used to think the flamer on the hill somehow owned them and they just ran free…but who knows. i love them so very very much.

This is my kind of place. Very cool. BTW…did I tell you we can’t get together this Saturday? I can’t remember. Rob is doing a bike race on base. Fun. Anyway, let’s do something else sometime.

Yeah, thanks! Forecast here: More snow this weekend. But seriously, what a fun adventure – I LOVE the arboretum. Ha, I have a picture of me and Lyndsy sneaking around a peacock there!

That looks so fun! Don’t rub it in with the weather. It’s 20 degrees here and snowing and man, I’m getting tired of the cold. We are trapped inside all day everyday. That place looks so pretty.

I love those really nice sunny days after the cold. We have been experiencing some of those days over here in Utah. I too go on outings so that Hattie will crash at the end of our adventure.
